The BP Milling blend of cereals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRather than trying to build a bait around an attractive smell or a fashionable liquid, we already had a base that fish would readily accept as food.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThen we started building on it.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eProsaf® soluble yeast extract\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne of the ingredients that became fundamental to the ProMalt profile is \u003cstrong\u003eProsaf® – a highly soluble, high-protein yeast product developed for use in low fishmeal aquafeeds.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eProsaf® is \u003cstrong\u003erich in glutamate\u003c\/strong\u003e, with a naturally salty, savoury, beefy taste profile.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's an ingredient that consistently produced the fish response we were looking for throughout development and became a defining part of ProMalt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eThen there's the cheese...\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe knew we wanted cheese powder in the recipe, but simply putting \u003cem\u003e“cheese powder”\u003c\/em\u003e on an ingredient list wasn't good enough.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003eproducer was as important to us as the ingredient itself.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe deliberately looked towards leading manufacturers with the technology and quality control required to produce a consistent cheese powder batch after batch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThen we tested different cheese powders.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNot just by smelling and tasting them ourselves, \u003cstrong\u003ewe let the fish help us decide.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere was a clear winner.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat's the cheese powder that made it into ProMalt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAttraction is only part of what we wanted from the finished bait.\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eProMalt also incorporates an \u003cstrong\u003eaquafeed vitamin and mineral premix\u003c\/strong\u003e, selected to provide a broad spectrum of micronutrients specifically relevant to fish nutrition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eBut the fish had the final say.\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHaving good ingredients on paper wasn't enough.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver approximately \u003cstrong\u003etwo years of development\u003c\/strong\u003e, different versions of the ProMalt recipe were rolled into boilies and evaluated through observations at the BP Milling fish farm, weeks of underwater footage and structured testing with a group of experienced koi keepers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach trial sample was assessed around the behaviours we actually cared about:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAttraction\u003c\/strong\u003e – How quickly did the fish find the bait?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAcceptance\u003c\/strong\u003e – Once they picked it up, did they swallow it confidently or eject it?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFeeding stimulation\u003c\/strong\u003e – After eating one, how quickly did they begin searching for another?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOverall response\u003c\/strong\u003e – Having watched their own fish feed on it, what did the tester actually think of the bait?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese weren't unfamiliar fish being observed once.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe koi keepers involved knew their fish and their normal feeding behaviour, making changes in response particularly valuable to us.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTheir feedback, alongside our own observations, helped influence \u003cstrong\u003ewhich ingredients stayed and the levels at which they were eventually included.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eThis is where ProMalt began.\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe finished boilie brings together our proven cereal base with \u003cstrong\u003ehighly soluble yeast extracts, carefully selected cheese powder, aquafeed micronutrients and the distinctive ProMalt taste and attraction profile\u003c\/strong\u003e that emerged from two years of development.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eProven ingredients.
